It has bias ply tires, AM radio incandecent headlights and regular leaded gas was 90 octane.
You check the section for motor oil and it recomends 30 weight oil.
Now it is 2023 and
your beetle has radial tires, digital radio, LED headlights and
you are still thinking 30 weight
motor oil? Come on and smell the roses.
Oil technology has leaped 50 years ahead too.
You should be using 5w50 multigrade oil like 4 cylinder motorcycles use,
or at least
0w40 even 20w50 if you do not drive the car when the outside temperature is below 30 degrees.
Synthetic
should be good for 7500 miles, that is probably 3 years of driving your fun car.
Worried
about lead additives, well you dont drive 500 miles a week anymore,
more like 500 miles a year
so adding lead substitute is a moot point for engine valve wear.
New and old customers be advised
that not driving your vw and waiting 5 years is killing it,
gas tanks, carburetors and electrical
systems all suffer with atrophe induced by ethenol.
If you have us tow it in and get it going
only to call us a year later and it has 20 miles on it,
is horrible treatment of the car, SELL
IT if you are not going to drive it.
